Sorry about the radio silence

It's been a rather... Stressful couple of months here. I've recently lost my job to the District outsourcing it, and mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Yes, they caught it early, and she's gone though the surgeries to get it out and take out the lymph nodes in her armpit to make sure it didn't spread there. Now she's just got the radiation left to deal with.

What this means to bringing in money outside of the GoFundMe Page is that we're going to be extremely limited in what we can put into the savings account we've set aside for for the renovation. That in turn means your contributions will be even more of a make or break for getting it done. Please give what you can, when you can.

Welcome!

I'm glad you decided to stop by! I'm glad you decided to and hope you keep coming back for updates on the fundraising efforts and the renovation on our home. Lauren and I will be updating here as much as possible.

As it stands now

We've just started our fundraising efforts, and need your help to spread the word, whether it be spreading the posts here on Facebook and Twitter, or through word of mouth. Every little bit helps!

Why we're doing this

We've set up the GoFundMe because, honestly, we need the help getting money to renovate our 1870's Folk Victorian home. Lauren and I both work, Bruce is retired with a pension and SS but with bills, taxes, health issues and the mortgages, our money's going everywhere but to the upkeep of the poor thing. We've lived here for the last 9 years this coming July, and it's been getting much worse. We had to have the Norway Spruce that was less than three feet from the bathroom taken down two years ago this coming August. It was about 150+ feet tall and slowly dying, and had roots growing under the bathroom. When the tree was cut down and the roots were taken out, (can't think of the proper term), the men doing the work commented on how the roots were growing under the house. There are still roots everywhere from this tree. Have no idea why no one took it down LONG before this.

Not the best photo, but that's the tree. Sucker was easily three times the height of the house, and had the root system to match.
The Bathroom... Is a hot mess. The floor has been rotting out for about the last year and a half. It does show a tree root under the floor. Will try to get a photo of it.

More in the next post, promise.
